What A Week!

What A Week!

The 2012 fun is officially underway, filled with readings and launch parties, spotting debut novels out in the wild, and even watching new writer friends become New York Times best selling authors after being on bookshelves for merely a week! If you haven’t heard about this book, you will:

This week, I got to attend two fantastic launch parties for two amazing YA and Middle Grade books.

Last Sunday, I went to the standing-room-only launch party for Veronica Rossi, held the beautiful Rakestraw Books in Danville, CA (yes, for you Phineas & Ferb fans, Danville is a real city. In fact, there are five of them. Who knew?). The room was full of support for Veronica and enthusiasm for her debut, UNDER THE NEVER SKY:

I had such a fantastic time meeting a bunch of fellow writers and bloggers.

A packed house!

Last Wednesday night, I took my kids to Anne Nesbet’s launch of THE CABINET OF EARTHS, a Middle Grade adventure set in Paris.

It was another packed-to-the-rafters room and Anne was her delightful self. Everyone was riveted by the sections Anne read, and both of my kids came home talking about Anne, Paris, books and salamander cookies!

The very gracious Anne let my son pick the door prize winners

Next week should be relatively quiet (lots of writing planned) but the following week I’ll be heading to San Francisco for Marissa Meyer’s launch party for CINDER. I can’t wait!
